Police Academy Set to Resume

Police Academy Graduation

The 2009 class of the NMU Regional Police Academy gets under way on May 3.  The academy is a 16-week, 800-hour police training school designed to provide basic law enforcement training to in-service and pre-service recruits. The curriculum covers such topics as fitness training, firearms, precision driving, police tactics, defensive tactics, criminal justice, domestic violence and traffic enforcement.  More details

Parked Cars Where can you park with your parking decal?  Check out NMU’s parking map.
Bike If you see a crime happening or know of illegal activity, you can provide information to Public Safety online at Anonymous Crime Tips. To learn more go to Crime Tips.
Police Shield In accordance with state and federal laws, it is mandatory that registered sex offenders taking classes, living or working at NMU report to NMU Public Safety. Michigan Sex Offender Website
Handgun  If you are visiting campus with a weapon and have a concealed weapon permit, you can register and store it at Public Safety and Police Services.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act is a federal law that requires colleges and universities to disclose certain timely and annual information about campus crime and security policies, such as crime statistics, police activities reports and timely crime alert notices.
